with his third release of the bella avgvsta series, daniel bortz shows that augsburg offers more then its famous puppet theater. the opener don’t forget your sword provides crystal clear techno, discreetly interrupted by accented fades of an exotic theme. with rolling dub sequences, decent recurring swishes and a peacefull breaks jump in the water describes the impression to dive into the humid element. lonely soldier then provides more power again. the basic theme which is dominated by a minor tone displays an inner unrest created by the unknown that is daily lurking out there for us. the beautiful deep dub-track hide from the sun finally plays with the change of shimmering heat and chilly shadow. who does not know the feeling on a hot open-air-afternoon to take an occasional time-out from the merciless burning sun. overall this is the most personal and deeply emotional release and as we think a worthy highlight and conclusion for the bella avgvsta series.

back in stock on 25.02.2016 , arapu has maintained a steady flow of releases over the past few years and hes one of the usual suspects in the underground scene. his elegant mixture of housy elements on a techno backbone gained him early support from his peers. successful stints on labels like memoria, crazy jack, motif and mrr led him to confidently start his own outlet. liniar debuts with a three tracker from the man himself.
broken grooves are almost always present in arapus productions and pitfall is no different. with a trippy synth that goes all the way and effected voices to go along, this track rules the night and the whole a side.
two tracks found their way on the b side and their flavour is quite different. escape is a pure deep house gem, and a clear indication of arapus soulful influence. extremely danceable and super uplifting, this track brings the summer back. wasting on the other hand is dark and has a dirty broken tech groove. this track may seem toolish but it s a monster when it hits.

kyle geiger returns on his home label with a set of tracks designed to recapture the basic function of techno. it s music to sweat to at a party. additionally, this package aims to capture a sense of timelessness through melody interwoven with a pumping breed of techno rhythms. the title track, homecoming, starts with a bottom-heavy percussive workout, then presses forward with an array of slowly filtering brighter synth stabs. the breakdown sees an arpeggiated synth slowly overtake the rhythm of the track just long enough to build tension and bring things back to full speed. the verge is a very stripped back, drum track style cruiser, which builds tension with a rising distorted pulse sound filtering in and out. just as it seems that the back half of the track will carry on as planned, a running melody comes in and changes the direction of the entire track. the verge (beat tool) is identical to the original, but build for those a little shy about slightly more upfront melodies.

groove line records are proud to add to their 2015 releases of half-speed mastered re-issue singles with both the extended special disco version and instrumental version of earth wind & fire s 1976 funk bomb getaway gracing each side of a 180g 12” virgin vinyl disc. looking to gain on his groups critical and commercial success from the early 1970s ew&f s main man maurice white brought in the legendary charles stepney, who had tutored him at chicago s chess records in the 1960s, as the co-producer and arranger on their incredible 1976 album spirit, which opened up with the formidable funk track getaway. co-written by guitarist, vocalist and songwriter bernard “beloyd” taylor (s.o.u.l.) and songwriter peter corbelenky around the theme of escapism and self-fulfilment, the primal urgency of getaway was the ideal composition for white to record with ew&f. white felt the song s energy and positive, uplifting lyrics matched the attitude and ethos of his group perfectly. as a result ew&f created a funk gem both musically and lyrically perfect for the dance floor.

emex is the emergent techno act of george apergis and alex retsis, powered by korg synthesizers. inspired by mathematics and digital electronics, already supported by marcel dettmann, truncate, drumcell, jonas kopp, bas mooy, pfirter, lag and many others. their debut ep is a conceptual fusion of dancefloor techno with atmospheric overtones, first track 00110001 is a minimal opener with pounding chords and detroit style influences, second track 00110010 progresses into darker territories while the fundamental grooves become infused with moody flavors and third track 00110011 transpires from harder realms, concluding the release with its almost acidic basslines and trippy arpeggios.
